Andrea, our daughter is 17 now and is an avid barrel racer. She loves her horses and cares for them daily, and rides almost daily putting training time on them. She has four horses, two that are young and two that are finished. Andrea started riding when she was eight years old, taught riding lessons at Lynn Laughlin's Arapahoe training center at Wellborn, Fl. Andrea started out riding English and Western Pleasure and went as far as she could in competition of all classes. As she gained riding experience, the idea of barrel racing was on her mind. This would be a little faster pace pitting her mount and her against the clock! It came natural to her and it was a lot of fun to run the barrels! Like everyone that races, we went through several horses, some good some not so good, but that is how it is in barrel racing horses. In 2005 Andrea came across a horse named Faith, a very well trained mare that was a little old but had a big heart for winning. She went to winning that year on Faith, winning quite a bit of money and a saddle and qualified to go to World NBHA that year in Jackson, Miss. Went to world but did not make the final cut, and what an experience it was just to qualify! Next horse we looked at was at Roscoe and Paula Sea's farm. The horse's name was Eddie Sport Model. That was Roscoe's horse and he was very proud of the winnings with Eddie. Adrea purchased Eddie with Roscoe's blessings. Eddie and Andrea hit it off together quickly. By now, Andrea had started Ga. Fl. high school rodeo competition. In the first year on Eddie, she qualified for the finals and ended up 7th out of 15 finalists. Rodeo is now the main riding competition for her, with another awesome horse named Reba. Together, Andrea and Reba have become a winning team in the rodeo circuit.
Also, along with barrel racing Andrea is known for her singing ability, mostly her yodeling. The song Cowboy Sweetheart is her favorite to sing. She has performed at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Tennessee at 9 years old. Andrea also was asked to perform at the World Finals in Jackson, Miss. during her time there. Andrea works very hard and puts in a lot of time riding and practicing the barrels, she always says nothing comes easy, you have to want it. As with riding, her school work is very much a part of her life, wanting to go to med school one day and excel in life. This farm is for her to have a place to ride and enjoy her horses that she loves so much. So come and meet Andrea, camp and trail ride along the Suwannee River. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
